Established by the American Academy of Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month is a month-long national celebration of poetry.  Join us for a lively celebration of the art of poetry featuring readings by Robin Chapman and Mark Krauschaar.

Also scheduled to read are local poets Paula Anderson and Susan Huebner.

This reading event is free and open to the public.  Donations in support of the Festival will be accepted.  Consider becoming a Friend of the Festival!

Robin Chapman is author of seven books, including the award-winning Images of a complex World: The Art and Poetry of Chaos, The Dreamer Who Counted the Dead, and Abundance.  She is a recipient of Appalachia’s 2010 Poetry Prize, Professor Emerita of Communicative Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She helps coordinate the UW Chaos and Complex Systems Seminar.  Ms. Chapman will be reading from her new collection The Eel Grass Meadow (Tebot Bach, 2011)

Mark Kraushaar has been widely published and anthologized with new work in the Hudson Review, Ploughshares, Alaska Review, Gettysburg Review,  as well as Best American Poetry, and the web site Poetry Daily. He has been featured in the Missouri Review as well as Michigan Quarterly and has been a recipient of Poetry Northwest’s Richard Hugo Award.  A full length collection, Falling Brick Kills Local Man in earlier editions was a finalist for the May Swenson Prize, the Walt Whitman Award, and the Juniper Prize, and  was published by University of Wisconsin Press, as winner of the 2009 Felix Pollak Prize. His most recent collection, The Uncertainty Principle, published by Waywiser Press, was chosen by James Fenton as winner of the Anthony Hecht Prize and was launched last February at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC. He has been the recipient of two Wisconsin Arts Boards grants and more recently a Wisconsin Arts Board fellowship.
