The Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books has renamed its Authors Marketplace and Exhibit Area to memorialize support given by Don Taylor who was the primary sponsor of the Writers Marketplace and Exhibit Area since it began in 2014. “We thought this an appropriate recognition for someone who was so important to the success of the Festival,” said Laraine O’Brien, Festival founder. He gave the support in the name of Waukesha State Bank, the financial institution founded by his family which he headed for 25 years. His public service commitment, both personally and through the bank, helped many organizations like the Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books over the years. An author himself, Taylor had written several books of historical fiction set in Waukesha.

The Mission of the UWM at Waukesha Foundation is to support the campus and the academic activities of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Waukesha by raising, receiving, and distributing funds to benefit and assist the students, faculty, programs, and community partners.
When UW-Waukesha opened in 1966, a non-profit organization, “The Friends of UW-Waukesha,” was incorporated to support the campus where public funds were not available. The name has changed several times in 53 years. As a result of the merger between UWM at UW-Waukesha and the subsequent name change of the Waukesha Campus, the Foundation is now known as UWM at Waukesha Foundation.
