SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN FESTIVAL OF BOOKS TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 2-3

Waukesha, Wis. – July 31, 2018 –The ninth annual Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books will be held November 2 and 3 on the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha campus. Organized by the UW-Waukesha Foundation, this year’s annual community celebration of literacy and the arts, themed American Stories, will feature two keynote authors: novelist Liam Callanan and mystery writer Nick Petrie, along with more than 60 other authors.

Callanan is the award-winning author of The Cloud Atlas, All Saints, Listen, and Paris by the Book,” said event chair Duane Stein. “He serves in the English department of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and was previously its chair, as well as coordinator of its Ph.D. program in creative writing.”

Author Nick Petrie, will read from his current novel, Light It Up, the third in his Peter Ash series, during his keynote conversation on Nov. 2. “Petrie will also share news of his upcoming novel, Tear It Up, during the special event,” Stein said. The ticketed event is $10 for general admission, or $35 to attend the event and receive a hardcover copy of Light It Up.

“We are really excited to have two Milwaukee authors as keynoters sharing their American stories,” Stein said.

The American Stories theme also runs through the 2018 Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books Century Fence Middle & High School Student Essay Contest, which is open to all middle school and high school students in Waukesha County. To be eligible for the cash prizes up to $250, students must submit an original essay based on the American Stories theme by the October 1 deadline.

A Writer’s Marketplace is also available for authors and organizations to promote their work for a small fee. Volunteers are needed for the days of the event.
