Rules for AllWriters’ Workplace & Workshop Adult Creative Writing Contest:
Must be an adult, minimum 21 years old, no maximum.
Submissions
- The pieces submitted must not have been already published. If your piece is accepted elsewhere before awards are given, you must notify us.
- Please check back in September for submission information for our 2026 contest.
Categories
FICTION
Length: Up to 2500 words. This can be an entire story, or the excerpt of a novel. Please identify if it is a complete piece or an excerpt.
Genre: Any fiction genre, i.e. sci fi, fantasy, romance, mystery, literary, mainstream etc. But it must be fiction.
NONFICTION
Length: Up to 2500 words. This can be an entire piece, or the excerpt of a nonfiction book. Please identify which it is..
Genre: Any nonfiction genre, i.e. memoir, article, essay. But it must be nonfiction.
POETRY
Length: One poem only. Up to 100 words. Must be an entire poem. No excerpt.
Genre: Any poetry genre, i.e. haiku, villanelle, sonnet, prose poem, etc. Please identify.
Prizes
Each category will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
1st place in each category will receive $200
2nd place in each category will receive $100
3rd place in each category will receive $50
