
Twenty-odd years after she edited the yearbook at Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, Mary E. Laur is a member of the editorial team that produces the iconic Chicago Manual of Style (soon to be published in its 16th edition). Although her official title at the University of Chicago Press is senior project editor for reference books, she has done every type of editing involved in book publishing, from copyediting to developmental editing to acquiring books at the proposal stage. As a graduate of several creative nonfiction writing workshops, she also brings the sensibilities of a writer to bear on her work as an editor.
