Milwaukee native Paul McComas is the author of four critically acclaimed books: his comprehensive genre collection Unforgettable: Harrowing Futures, Horrors, and Dark Humor (2011), the deal for which was made at last year’s SEWI Book Fest (and which features the Bradbury Award-winning story “Levitation”); the comedic coming-of-age novel Planet of the Dates (2008; optioned for and in development as a Hollywood feature); the recovery-through-nature novel Unplugged (2002); and the short-story collection Twenty Questions (1998; now in its third printing). Slated for 2013 publication is the SF novel Logan’s Journey, co-authored by Paul and Logan’s Run author William F. Nolan. Paul is also the editor of the multi-author anthologies First Person Imperfect (2003) and Further Persons Imperfect (2007). As a filmmaker, he has garnered international and national awards for his short-form dramatic and comedic movies. An acclaimed performer/public reader, Paul has presented his material live at 90 venues nationwide and is a two-time recipient of the Chicago Reader‘s “Critics Choice” in Theatre/Performance. He has taught at Northwestern University, National-Louis University, and Lawrence University’s Bjorklunden Center, among other sites. Paul lives in Evanston, IL with fellow fiction writer Heather McComas and their recently adopted rescue greyhound, Sam.
