The Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books has renamed its Authors Marketplace and Exhibit Area to memorialize support given by Don Taylor who was the primary sponsor of the Writers Marketplace and Exhibit Area since it began in 2014. “We thought this an appropriate recognition for someone who was so important to the success of the Festival,” said Laraine O’Brien, Festival founder. He gave the support in the name of Waukesha State Bank, the financial institution founded by his family which he headed for 25 years. His public service commitment, both personally and through the bank, helped many organizations like the Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books over the years. An author himself, Taylor had written several books of historical fiction set in Waukesha.

Book:
Grace Revealed: A Hollywood Reporter Uncovers his Polish Family’s Haunting Tale of Survival in Stalin’s Siberia

What begins as a search into his Polish roots quickly unearths a chilling chapter of 20th-century history; the mass deportation of nearly 1.5 million Polish citizens to Siberian gulags under Stalin’s regime, an atrocity rarely taught or acknowledged.

As the author retraces the vexing path of his ancestors—through exile, endurance, and improbable survival—he finds himself walking a tightrope between past and present. But when fate intervenes with an unexpected international adventure, he must ask: Can uncovering the truth bring healing? Can telling the untold restore dignity to the silenced?

Part memoir, part history, and part spiritual quest, this is a powerfully uplifting journey.

Then the unthinkable happens. One night, their double-wide trailer catches on fire and burns to the ground. Charly worries about Granny and wonders if they’ll ever get a new home.

The worship music filling churches today was born on acid.

Contemporary Christian Music came up out of the 1960s psychedelic counterculture—the same drugs, the same longhairs, the same Jesus the church was busy condemning. LSD to Galilee follows that unlikely thread: from Bicycle Day to the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, from the Jesus People to the sound now piped through every megachurch.

But it asks a bigger question, too. Where does the divine actually show up? Rob Zahn makes the case that it’s the least likely places—the very ones the church declared off-limits. This book doesn’t promote psychedelics. It follows God into them.
